Huntington Beach Then & Now: Bolsa Chica Wetlands Mural

THEN // Back in 1992, in commemoration of the Amigos de Bolsa Chica's 16th anniversary, local artist Neill Ketchum designed a 35-foot-wide outdoor mural depicting the Bolsa Chica Wetlands and the plants and animals that reside there. The mural was painted by a crew of 15 amateur and professional artists between October and December 1991 and was dedicated on January 11, 1992. The Amigos de Bolsa Chica have been instrumental in helping to protect and preserve our precious wetlands.

NOW // Today, the mural can still be seen behind the building at 5811 McFadden Avenue, where the group used to meet. It's a bit obscured by some old cars and boats, but it remains a local hidden artistic treasure.
