Epic Big Board Ride Documentary To Premiere In Huntington Beach
Huntington Beach crushed two Guinness World Records on International Surfing Day 2015: "World's Largest Surfboard" and "Most People Riding A Surfboard At Once." A total of 66 surfers rode unassisted for 12 straight seconds on the Big Board, which measured in at 42 feet long, 11 feet wide, and 1,300 pounds. The incredible feat, led by Visit Huntington Beach on June 20, 2015, knocked Australia out of the top rankings.
We watched the epic ride, and now we get to watch the making of it.
On Thursday, January 21, the documentary "The Biggest Board: Surf City USA's Epic Ride" will premiere at the Shorebreak Hotel at 5 p.m. Tickets cost $50 and include a cocktail hour, hors d'oeuvres, a silent auction, and the screening. Net proceeds benefit the installation and maintenance of the Big Board, as well as the Huntington Beach International Surfing Museum. After the premiere, the documentary will ride the international film festival circuit.
On Friday, January 22, the Big Board will be unveiled outside its permanent home, the Huntington Beach International Surfing Museum, in a free public installation ceremony at 10 a.m.
