The air smells of pigskin, beer, and guacamole. You know what that means, Super Bowl Sunday is near. Many of us prefer to stay inside the confines of our homes to save the public from ourselves on Game Day. But for those of us who enjoy a little social interaction with our football, Huntington Beach delivers. Here are 10 spots to watch NFL Super Bowl XLIX—New England Patriots versus Seattle Seahawks—kicking off at 3:30 p.m. in Phoenix, Arizona, and broadcast live via NBC.

Johnny's Saloon

Huntington Beach's most beloved dive bar offers a free Sunday brunch from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. every week, and they're not stopping on Super Bowl Sunday. Head over to the popular Beach Boulevard watering hole for a free pre-game brunch, complete with made-to-order omelettes and breakfast standards. We'll say it a third time: Free. Sunday. Brunch. Wash it down with full bar offerings, then kick back and watch the game on one of many TVs. Oh, and don't forget to ride Dirty Donald... Sunday hours are 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. Psst... Johnny's is currently running a $30 for $50 Yelp deal.

SeaLegs Wine Bar

SeaLegs knows how to throw a great party, and their "Big Game Party" is no exception. For $50 party-goers will score bottomless Beach City Brewery craft beer; a gourmet Super Bowl buffet featuring wings, dogs, and ribs; football pool; and prime viewing on two 80-inch and two 65-inch flat screen TVs blasting digital concert sound. They had us at "bottomless Beach City Brewery beer." Sunday hours are 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Reservations are recommended.

Beach City Brewery

Speaking of Beach City Brewery, they're running Super Bowl specials the day before the big game from noon to 6 p.m. $10 growler fills on their five year-round brews and $4 22-ounce bottles is where it's at for football fans watching at home. The brewery will be projecting the game on Sunday, so take a seat at one of the picnic tables, man your glass, and bring or order in some treats from nearby eateries. Sunday hours are noon to 8 p.m.

Reefs Edge Grill

Gourmet urban grill Reefs Edge Grill has reserved its taps for Beach City Brewery and will exclusively pour their PCH Pale Ale on Super Bowl Sunday. Brunch will be served from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. as usual, but there are a few additions to Game Day's menu. Food offerings include an epic sampler plate of Reef wings, fried pierogies (!!!), and sausage and peppers sliders, along with Reef or poke nachos and tri-tip sliders. A second beer special offers $3 Coors Light (though we highly recommend spending the extra $1 for a refreshing local craft brew). Eat, drink, watch the game on the 80-inch flatscreen at the bar or at one of two 50-inch flatscreens in the dining area. Sunday hours are 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Reservations are recommended.

Four Sons Brewing

Another solid brewery option for Game Day is Four Sons Brewing. The Ds are still working out the details, but they will be showing the game on their flat screens and keeping it fresh for imbibers. So far they've planned a specialty beer release, Rolling Sushi Van bites, and possible raffles. Sunday hours are noon to 8 p.m.

Huntington Beach Beer Company

Nearly every eatery and watering hole on Main Street will screen the game and offer deals, and Huntington Beach Beer Company would be our pick if we dared brave the crowds. Food and drink specials include $12 HBBC pitchers, $5 Fireball, $5 Tullamore Dew, $3 mimosas, $6 wings, and $6 nachos. You'll be sure to get good and buzzed, and nothing helps balance the spins like a crunchy plate of chips and cheese. Sunday hours are 11 a.m. to 12:30 a.m.

Grinderz

If all you need for Game Day are a TV, a great burger, and great beer, Grinderz has you covered. The skateboard-inspired burger joint at Old World Village will project the game onto a 10-foot by 8-foot screen with surround sound, along with a TV on the outside patio. If they ask, "Would you like fries with that?" remember you have options. Draft beer comes in pints and pitchers, so come thirsty. Sunday hours are 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Reservations are recommended.

Don The Beachcomber

If you prefer a little reggae with your Super Bowl, Don The Beachcomber awaits. The game will, of course, be on, as will food and drink specials, like $3 off Don's signature drinks, $3 house wine, $4 well drinks, and 1/2 off appetizers. Happy hour goes from 3 to 7 p.m., and when you need a break from the action, retreat to the Hidden Village for Fully Fullwood live reggae for the duration of happy hour. Stay for karaoke after the game. Reservations are recommended.

Old World German Bar

For those uninterested in the standard Super Bowl Sunday fare, Old World's German Bar is staying true to its roots and serving up bratwurst and pouring German beers from 2 to 7 p.m. The game will show on "big screen TVs everywhere," according to the website.

House Of Brews

Boasting a recent facelift, House of Brews at the Huntington Harbour Mall will celebrate Super Bowl Sunday with the game on all flatscreens, a bicycle raffle, halftime giveaways, and food and drink specials—which are still in the works. It's a convenient spot for Harbour folks and residents on the northern end of town.
