We Got Two Turntables: Here's Where To Celebrate Record Store Day In HB

There's something quite magical about the cool feel of vinyl, the musty scent of aging record sleeves, the careful drop of a turntable needle and the warm sound emanating from microgrooves through speakers. The beauty of LPs are enough to warrant applause, which is why every year the entire world (less Antarctica) celebrates Record Store Day.

Now in its eighth year, the event honors independent record store owners, staffers and artists by featuring deals on vinyl, exclusive releases and special live performances. And it's all going down on Saturday, April 19.

Here's who's participating in Huntington Beach:

Specializing in rare punk rock vinyl, TKO has reached deep into its vaults as both a record label and store and plucked up to 20 rare albums from the label's history. Per their Facebook announcement, "We are talking test pressings, colored vinyl editions, out of print classics, etc. This is stuff that hasn't been available for YEARS, so any collectors of TKO releases are going to be STOKED!!" Dozens of special Record Store Day releases have arrived at the shop, including LPs and 7-inch albums by Velvet Underground, Chad Vangallen, Devo, Built to Spill, Otis Redding and many, many more. They've been dutifully updating their list on Facebook, so make sure you're following the action.

TKO will open at 9 a.m. on Saturday and close around 9 p.m.

Vinyl Solution gave us the scoop on their Record Store Day events this afternoon, and the day sounds pretty promising. A private collection will be up for sale, but they've opted to keep mum on exactly who will be featured. "We don't want people losing their minds," according to Sam White at the shop. Records from their never-before-heard back stock will also be available for purchase, along with a slew of new albums. Pretty much everything in the store is for sale "except for the TV, sound system and register," says White. Customers who spend over $50 will score 10% off, and word on the street is you might hear some live music at the shop come nightfall.

The store will open at 10 a.m. on Saturday and close around 10 or 11 p.m.
