8 Best Brunches In Huntington Beach

8 Best Brunches In Huntington Beach

The term "brunch" is not as easy as it sounds. It's a series of compromises between friends and family—starting with location, menu, price and ambience. However, if you know your audience and do a little homework, the outcome satisfies all. Lucky for you, we've compiled a list of Huntington Beach restaurants that will likely meet everyone's fancy (and not-so-fancy). Sincerely yours, The Breakfast Club.

SeaLegs Wine Bar

According to the locals, all things "happening" are doing so at SeaLegs Wine Bar. Celebrate the weekend with $15 Bottomless Bubbles, offering a choice of juice (orange, guava, pineapple, or strawberry), or mix it up with @ThaDonutDon Donut of the Day Bloody Mary (24-ounce housemade Bloody Mary garnished with strips of bacon and a maple bacon cronut from HB's own "#ThaDonutDon"). This, accompanied by a Vegetarian Benedict (grilled asparagus and roasted tomato over an English muffin, poached egg, hollandaise sauce served with home style potatoes), or the Shrimp, Tomato & Arugula Omelet (three-egg omelet with sautéed shrimp, grape tomatoes, mozzarella cheese and arugula, served with homestyle potatoes) will keep you coming back. Even the sides are worth the trip. Soft Shell Crab with Basil Aioli or Brioche French Toast, anyone? Yum.

Saturday and Sunday Brunch: 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Reservations recommended.

Café Cup Cinnamon Buns and Mashed Potato Omelet (Photos by Café Cup)

Café Cup

A more bare bones establishment (yes, we are leading you to a strip mall) with a large fan base would be Café Cup. You're willing to wait 25 minutes for a table because you signed up for F-L-A-V-O-R. The highly praised Mashed Potato Omelet comes with seasoned mashed potatoes stuffed with bacon and cheddar cheese and topped with green onion and sour cream, served with grilled tomatoes. Delicious! If you've got a sweet tooth, try their Stuffed French Toast, made with thick egg French toast stuffed with cream cheese and topped with butter and cinnamon sugar, or their lovely Cinnamon Buns. Pair with a latte. Oh, and bring the green, as it's all about the cash—no credit.

Open at 7 a.m. Saturday and Sunday.

The Sugar Shack

Those on dawn patrol will point no further than The Sugar Shack. Established in 1967, this family-owned business knows its way around the kitchen and wallet. The surf memorabilia and old-fashioned ambiance will make you feel right at home. Reservations are made by way of pen and clipboard at the door. Note they have both front and back patios. We, along with Courtney Conlogue, recommend the popular Keppler's Special (three eggs scrambled on an English muffin, topped with sliced avocado, tomato, bacon and hollandaise sauce, served with hash browns), as well as the three-egg breakfast burrito with your choice of fillings (includes hash browns and salsa). A "Cup of Joe" for you and the traditional hot cocoa for your little one.
