21 Of The Beachiest Rides At The 2nd Annual Surf City Veterans Day Car Show
Despite a cool, gray Sunday morning in Huntington Beach this past weekend, the 2nd annual Surf City Veterans Day Car Show managed to heat things up with more than 500 extraordinary sets of wheels. From vintage pickups to modern muscle cars, the $100 million lineup ran the gamut of styles, brands, and eras. HB's own Johnny's Saloon and Placentia-based nonprofit Vision 2 Victory team up year after year in honor of Veterans Day. Rides aside, the event "is all about the veterans," says V2V Director JR Nichols.
This year, roughly 7,000 attendees strolled the rows of rides, swooning over the polished exteriors and cushy restored interiors. A military salute kicked off the free event, which also saw hula dancers and a roaring engine revving honoring POW/MIAs, also featuring the deafening screams of drag racers. The event's proceeds will help Iraq and Afghanistan combat veterans transition from military to civilian life, and it will continue to grow every year.
The presence of heroic veterans and American flags flapping in the wind brought an air of swelling pride and patriotism to the beach on November 9, once again reminding attendees that freedom is not free. Thank a vet today, folks. They've earned our respect many times over.
In case you missed last year's coverage, we couldn't contain ourselves and posted 100 of our favorite machines. Read on.
