Huntington Beach Then & Now: A 1940s Perkin's Malt Shop At Main And PCH

Then // Back in the 1940s, Huntington Beach was a classic small town that, as the "Then" photo suggests, could just as easily been located in the Midwest as along the Southern California coast. It truly was "Mayberry by the Sea." Here we see Main Street at PCH, tricked out for the 4th of July. Silex Coffee and Deluxe Hamburgers are featured items at Perkin's Malt Shop, along with Chili & Beans. And there's not just one, but two taxi stands.

Now // Today, the photo says more than any caption could.
