'Centered On The Center' Group Art Exhibition Returns With Biggest Show In A Decade

Some of Huntington Beach's finest artists will join the ranks of other local, regional and national talent this Saturday in HB Art Center's annual "Centered on the Center," a group exhibition featuring nearly 260 creatives and their roughly 400 artworks. HB Art Center Director Kate Hoffman tells us 2014 marks the biggest show since 2003.

Launched in 1995, the salon-style, non-juried exhibition welcomes artists from across the country to submit up to two original pieces. All submissions meeting exhibition requirements are happily hung until all galleries reach capacity. The result is an eclectic collection of various art media housed in HB's own arts and cultural center.

At least two of the participating artists have been featured here on Main & PCH: Mackenzie Matthews and Sam Bernal. Read Bernal's story here, and check out Matthews' five favorite HB spots here.

Kicking off the month of February, the opening reception takes place Saturday, February 1, from 6 to 9 p.m. The celebration is free and open to the public. "Centered on the Center" displays through Saturday, March 22.

Admission to the HB Art Center is by donation, and hours are as follows: Tuesday-Thursday, 12-8 p.m.; Friday, 12-6 p.m.; Saturday, 12-5 p.m.; and Sunday-Monday, closed.
