Earrywood Haunted House beckoned brave souls into its maze of spine-chilling frights Saturday night, making worst nightmares come true along Huntington Beach's not-so-Serene Drive. We warned scare-seekers of the devilish dangers awaiting, yet hundreds still stepped inside the house of horrors. For some, tears were shed before even entering; others who made it through ran screaming into the night.
One Earrywood ghoul shared with us a handful of opening night photos capturing a few of the creepy characters lurking in the darkness. Eerie doll masks, ghostly gals, chainsaw massacres, killer clowns and Jason Voorhees all rest beneath the moonlight in anticipation of All Hallows' Eve, Earrywood's second and final hair-raising night.
The dreadful doors open at 7 p.m., and guests should expect to wait 45 minutes to an hour to enter. A record 650 people showed up on opening night, and early birds will get the worm—the worm being a shorter wait time. Entry is free, and the chief bogeyman reminds guests, "Come at your own risk." Some survivors claim the haunts top those of Universal Studios Halloween Horror Nights and Knott's Scary Farm Haunt.
